Beltrami County History Center Receives 3 Grants
February 20th, 2012 by Nicole, under Stories. No Comments
The Beltrami County History Center has received three grants so far for 2012:
A Legacy Grant for $4,978.00 to rehouse our collection of historic photographs in order to better preserve them
A $7,000 grant from Beltrami County to update and expand our Research Room
A grant allowing us to participate in the Museum Assessment Program (MAP). Through guided self-study and on-site consultation with a museum professional, participation in MAP will empower the Beltrami County History Center to strengthen and develop areas such as our long-term plan, fund development, and community outreach, with the goal of meeting and exceeding the highest professional standards of the museum field. The program is funded by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and throughout its 30 years has been administered by the American Association of Museums (AAM). As part of the IMLS National Leadership program, MAP advances best practices and fosters improvement in museums.
Grand Opening of Paul and Babe Exhibit a Giant Success!

Thanks to everyone who made the Paul & Babe Exhibit Opening and Birthday Celebration a giant success! We had a great turnout of visitors who came to hear a fascinating presentation on the Paul Bunyan Legend by Wayne Chamberlain, see hundreds of items of Paul and Babe memorabilia on display, and enjoy delicious birthday cake courtesy of Raphael’s Bakery! Check out Lakeland’s coverage of the event on last night’s news: http://www.lakelandptv.org/
Thanks also to everyone who donated and loaned items for the exhibit!
