About the event

Beltrami County Historical Society and Bemidji Public Library are honored to welcome Darrell Kingbird and the Eagle Clan Drum Group with Special Guest Minnesota Associate Supreme Court Justice Ann McKeig to open our special exhibit: Niimi'idiwag: They Dance.  The exhibit and programs explore the history of Anishinaabe Powwow, the significance of powwow music, regalia, dance, and craft, and the impact of historic and current events on the powwow.  The exhibit will include wall panels, photographs, music, and artifacts from the Historical Society's collection.

Following the opening ceremony, Mr. Kingbird and the members of the Eagle Clan Drum Group will provide a program about the components of the ceremony and share a bit about Powwow.

Registration is not required for this event and is FREE to attend.  Seating will be reserved for elders and individuals who require assistance.

This program, and many others, is made possible through the Minnesota Legacy Amendment that supports the arts, culture, and heritage of Minnesota.
