About the event

Join us for a special cultural presentation on the Anishinaabe Berry Fast, a traditional coming-of-age ceremony for young women experiencing their first menstruation. This event will explore the cultural significance, spiritual teachings, and communal practices associated with this important Anishinaabe tradition.

Presenters will share knowledge about how this ceremony honors the transition to womanhood, connects participants to their cultural heritage, and establishes a relationship with the natural world. The session will explore how traditional practices can inform our contemporary understanding of menstruation and coming-of-age.

Please note: To create a supportive environment for our young presenters, this event will be held in person only and will not be available via Zoom. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to attend in person to learn about this important cultural tradition.

This educational presentation welcomes people of all backgrounds who wish to learn about Indigenous perspectives on menstruation and cultural ceremonies.
