About the event

Beltrami County Historical Society, in collaboration with the Bemidji State University Department of Humanities, is set to present "The World That Produced the Declaration: Historical Context & Intellectual Foundations." The panel will feature Dr. John Ellis, an assistant professor of history at BSU, and Caleb Curfman, a history instructor at Northland Community and Technical College. They will explore the imperial conflicts, economic pressures, Enlightenment thought, and social hierarchies that influenced colonial society, as well as how radical ideas and entrenched inequalities coexisted at the nation's inception. A session for audience questions and discussion will follow. This is a FREE program and advanced registration is NOT required.
