#FriendsofHistory, I'm sharing this post with you early this Saturday morning before my husband John and I head to Loop the Lake, a family-friendly, safety-promoting bike ride around Lake Bemidji. (Personal note: please always wear a helmet).

Our Loop the Lake friend asked us to create yard signs that share the history of Juneteenth for the ride today. Since not all of you are the special kind of crazy that thinks a 17-mile bike ride is just the way to spend your Saturday, the signs are posted below. For more information on Juneteenth, I encourage you to visit the Juneteenth virtual exhibit and resources offered by the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
